Banshee - Frankie Big Face

Can I get a word with you?
Can I get a word with you?

My job, my age, some lies, a picture
With my dog, a date, a fifth of liquor
And by every measure we are having fun
A pulse, a beat, a light, a flicker
Of romance, a dance, a strong predictor
We were always meant to be, yes he’s The One

Can I get a word with you?
Can I get a word with you?
Our fingers touch
This can't be wrong
I serenade him
With my song

Woe is me
Another evening ends in tears
The man I love has disappeared
Woe is me
Everyone who hears my cry
Vanishes before my eyes

Can I get a word with you?

Alarm, a sigh, a shower, a visit
To my mom, a talk, a firm decision
That it’s time to mount that horse and try again
A chance, a glance, a spark, some kismet
And we're off, a chase, a race, collision
Of our hearts, our minds, our souls, let’s not pretend

Can I get a word with you?
Can I get a word with you?
We've found ourselves
Where we belong
Please let me please you
With my song

Woe is me
Another evening ends in tears
The man I love has disappeared
Woe is me

Everyone who hears my cry
Vanishes before my eyes
The sun has set, the day is done
And here I sit, I'm all alone
A beating heart is a vicious curse
The call to love an endless thirst
I've done no wrong, committed no crime
But I waste away, I serve my time

Woe is me
Can I get a word with you?
Can I get a word with you?

This song is so loud and high-energy that I kept worrying it would run off the rails, but it never does. That "Woe-woe-woe-woe-woe is me" is both incredibly catchy and a clever angle on the title! I also really love the staccato synth in the background under that chorus. This has been stuck in my head ever since the first listen. I also really like the verse structure. I was trying to think of where I'd heard a song like this, with a lot of indefinite articles making up the verses, and the closest I could think of was Add's "Maybe So." I can't shake the feeling that there's something else this is similar to, but it just will not come to me. (No, not that one.)(Not that one either.) Anyway, you had my favorite of the round again, so congratulations on a well-deserved win.
