Forum postI think the use of the song title is good. And the drums are pretty catchy. The lyrics are clever sometimes, but I do think you too-often fall back on calling the person's mom fat.
Hmm - I posted these yesterday, but I guess they didn't stick, so here we go again
Pump the Brakes
by Boffo Yux Dudes
What did you say?
Do you wanna play?
You gonna throw down with me?
You been spreading news that’s fake
Buddy, you had better pump the brakes
Leave my Mom alone
You’re Mom’s a smelly old crone
Cause yo mama
Yes, yo mama
Stares at the OJ ‘cause it says Concentrate, or
She’s so fat, man
Like a vast tract of land
Her belt size is equator
What did you say?
Do you wanna play?
You gonna throw down with me?
Yo ugly mama gives Freddy Krueger nightmares.
So bald she uses Turtle Wax for hair care
And she’s stupid, too
If she said she loves you
Cause yo mama
Yes, yo mama
Puts M&Ms in alphabetical order
And she’s such a mess
She’s so worthless
Got thrown out by a hoarder
You better cut it out
‘Cause family’s about
Defending those you love by attacking others
So Pump The Brakes my friend
Stop this car and send
This message to your troglodyte of a mother
What did you say?
Do you wanna play?
You gonna throw down with me?
I hope you learned a little thing or two
You shouldn’t talk with your genetic stew
That shows on your face
I’ll put you in your place
Cause yo mama
Cause yo mama
Brought a Spoon to the Super Bowl
She’s so fat, bo
Watch TV, you know
That Dora can’t explore her all
Now it’s over
Yes, it’s over
We are finally through
What your mama did
It’s the worst, kid
She gave birth to you

I like this one more than your previous one but not as much as Message Received, which I am still finding myself humming at regular intervals. I think it works best when you branch out from the Momma jokes a bit, the lines about family etc. feel pretty clever and I think you could maybe have found similarly witty ways to subvert the expectations rather than just reworking old jokes into rhyming sections. But it's a fun take on the challenge.
I like the idea of making a your mama diss track, and it seems right up BYD’s alley. The tone of the music doesn’t really feel like a diss track, but I think it works. My biggest complaint here would be that the jokes are stale. If you want to do a your mama diss track that’s great, but don’t just Google very common old jokes.
One of the songs that actually captured the spirit of the challenge, I thought--I was really pretty entertained and pleased that you decided to go with this theme, particularly for a song due on Mother's Day. The music was poppy and fun to listen to, although it got too repetitive for me after a while, and the phrasing didn't feel very natural for some of the lyrics, like the M&M line. I did not research to see which of these are existing jokes pulled off the Internet and which were originals (like I feel I've seen the "concentrate" joke before, but I still liked it)--either way, the song made me laugh. I particularly liked the scattered digs at the son like "And she’s stupid, too/If she said she loves you" and "she gave birth to you".
