Deified
by The Alleviators
Challenge notes: Just in case anyone cares... song is in D and the palindrome is A-B-C#-D-F#-F#-D-C#-B-A - appears in the intro, between first chorus and second verse, and outro over the I chord (sometimes with harmonized thirds), during the first line of second verse over the IV chord and at the end of each chorus ("if you didn't want to be deified..." and "never wanted to be deified...") over an underlying I-vi-IV-V.
Lyrics
It's a slow burn, heel turn goodwill assassin
Our Greek chorus can't see the forest for the fashion
We sent prayers to the towers
And we watched from afar
You kicked the doors open
And you left them ajar
You don't know me and I
Don't know if you'd much like me if you did
If you didn't want to be deified
You should shine with a dimmer saintly light
It's a given, that I'm livin' for the payoff
Serotonin, in a button, never enough
So send me your prayers
And I'll try to be kind
But I can't save your souls, no
I can't even save mine
You don't know me and I
Don't know if you'd much like me if you did
Never wanted to be deified
But I'll bask in your praises here tonight
