Two Day Shadow
à tous les monsieurs

Verse 1:
A two day shadow growing out of his face
An idle Stephen with a comma of a shave
A one time mister pens a three day journey
Four day whiskers, sparing scissors, for noone at all

Verse 2:
A sole érudit studies a two-bit world
A con man’s mark on every facial curl
A final hair on each dot of punctuation
The exclamation of an image across Dublin Bay

Chorus:
(A mark of a madman, la marque de fou)
*Moi faire. Tous les messieurs.
Moi faire.” “Not this monsieur*.”

Verse 3:
Sprawled between the rocks, a hyphen on the beach
A poem written out with too many ellipses
A thousand year day steers us through this odyssey
A single moment, a June portent with grand apostrophe

I get the 70s singer-songwriter vibe, which is really nice, and I think I've got the song figured out and then you go all Prog on me. Maybe it's just the way you sing 'A mark of a madman', dunno, but it really hits my prog-spot. You should have omitted the first explanation of how you tackled the question challenge, as you're already flirting with pretentiousness. This is a beautiful song, and I were a judge I'd be agonizing over if this or Frankie's song deserves to be first.
