Full of courage
JoAnn Abbott
April 20, 2014
The lights had gone out
When the engines went dead
And all you could hear
Were the terrified screams of the men
And the rush of the waves
Then voices they knew
Gave them hope in the dark
This way! Follow me!
If you follow my light you’ll be fine!
And you all will be saved
Full of courage, they led out the wounded
Full of courage, through wind and through wave
Full of courage, they led men to safety
Full of courage and love they went to their grave
The Dorchester full
of civilians and soldiers
Was struck in the night
By the U Boat which waited for them
In the cold Northern Sea
The chaplains led all
To the lifeboats that night
They offered their gloves
Then they offered their life jackets too
Then they linked arms and prayed

Full of courage, through wind and through wave
