Entry from Shock Value in Nur Ein XIV.

Make a song with quiet and loud parts -- like every Pixies song you love. This can mean crescendos or decrescendos, sudden loud noises, whatever, just make good use of dynamics.

Shock Value

We got an attitude problem
That's what society says (HA!)
We're not supposed to have value
We let it go to our heads

Hey! I do not hate myself, I know that's shocking
Hey! Don't want or need your help
Hey! You find your value when you know
You gotta love yourself

I got no apologies for ya
I checked and I'm all out of stock
On the receiving end of a side-eye
I know that it's not gonna stop

Hey! I do not hate myself, I know that's shocking
Hey! Don't want or need your help
Hey! You find your value when you know
You gotta love yourself
You gotta love yourself

I may be a little bit extra
I may be a little too much
You may be confused by the moves that we use
Paid my dues
As for you?
You're excused.

Hey! I do not hate myself, I know that's shocking
Hey! Don't want or need your help
Hey! You find your value when you know
You gotta love yourself
You gotta love yourself
You gotta love yourself

impeccably produced and performed, and another smart lyric. Like your last round entry I found myself admiring this more than loving it and I'm not really sure why that is, but it's SO well done, uses dynamics very well indeed, and I'd expect this to be right up there at the top of the table.

The vocal at the beginning is threateningly ominous, and that threat is carried out in the chorus. Some of the vocal phrasing seems a little awkward (as in “all out of stock”), but this is simply a good, hard-rocking song. Nice work.

this is going on the permanent playlist. The lyrics are great, really well realized, and I love your diction. The harmonies are great. A great pump up song. I want to listen to this every morning. I’m get a strong Joan Jett bad reputation vibe. I love it! One of my favorites from this round.

Vocally might have been my favorite performance of the round. You got attitude, and I like it. You didn’t use the title exactly, but clearly it was inspired by the title. Lyrically I felt it was creative enough, and had great flow. My biggest complaint would be the instrumental secetion, which just felt weak.

Love that snarl. This chorus is huge. Chromatic riffs in the bridge, is it my birthday? A headbanger for certain.
