Forum postThe bass and congas (bongos?) on this are absolutely fantastic. This is really cool in its smooth, laid-back grooviness, and my number one favorite in this round.

Never Knew the Guy
-Owl Chemist
Simon was a man
A Judean man
A fisherman
A rock-hard man
He met a man
A preacher man
Who had a plan
So Simon joined his band
And the preacher said to him,
*"You will be The Rock"
"You will be The Rock"
"You will be The Rock"*
Jesus told him so
*"You will be The Rock"
"You will be The Rock"
"You will be The Rock"
"'Peter' - let's roll!"*
So they roamed across the land
From Jerusalem to Galilee
Showing kindness to the sick and the poor
Made them a lot of enemies
They nailed Jesus up to a cross
And said, "Hey Pete - wasn't he your boss?"
Simon stopped being hard as rock
And before the crowing of the cock, he said
"I never knew the guy"
"I never knew the guy"
"I never knew the guy"*
Three times he said,
*"I never knew the guy"
"I never knew the guy"
"I never knew the guy"
Turns out Jesus was a hard man to keep down
3 days later, J was back in town
Said, "Peter, say you love me three times - be my rock
When I'm gone , I need you to tend my flock
Pete said,
*"Yeah, I know this guy"
"He's an awesome guy"
"Really love this guy"*
Three times
*"Yeah, I know this guy"
"He's an awesome guy"
"Really love this guy"*

really interesting vibe: bongos, melodic bass, atmospheric guitars and biblical lyrics! I don’t like it quite as much as your last couple, maybe, but it’s very well done.
I’m not religious but I wouldn’t mind listening to the Bible this way. Great arrangements of all the different parts.
