Firestorm
by Ross Durand
When you were young you used to go outside
Throw your head back and spread your arms out wide
Open up your mouth to try to catch the drops
When the rain came down, you would skip and you'd hop
But you're older now, and things have changed
You're not so excited to go dancing in the rain
When you were young like that you didn't have any cares
But now you're just careless, as we're all aware
Leavin' ruin in your wake as you pass through lives
You see trouble comin' - throw your arms out wide
And throw your had back as if your only vow
Is "devil-may-care," well he might care now
And you don't seem too concerned
You fan the flames as they churn
You got a lot to learn
If you dance in a firestorm you're gonna get burned
Well you love the heat, you say it's good for you
But when the pan heats up, watcha gonna do
Just keep sittin like a froggy would?
Or make a break like you prob'ly should
You won't see it comin', even so
Just keep skippin' and a dancin' while the storm winds grow
Well you better not pout, you better not cry
When the drops of pain start fillin' your skies
Cause you're not dancin' in the rain no more
You're dancin' in the flames and when it burns it pours
I guess a cautionary tale would be a waste of my breath
Figure it out yourself instead
When the skies get clear and there's no one around
Just you all alone and the black, scorched ground
You might look back at your younger days
And wish that you were just dancing in the rain
But you don't seem too concerned
You fan the flames as they churn
You got a lot to learn
If you dance in a firestorm you're gonna get burned
