She fried up rice so many times,
With vegetable and egg.
She knew I didn't mind a little spice
Still I'd have to beg
"Don't overdo the root"
She'd start to scowl, furrow her brow,
Shake her angry whisp
She'd tell me to get out the kitchenette
Still I would insist
"Don't overdo the root"
Cause you know how much I love you,
And I so appreciate your food,
I'm not trying to be rude,
But I got needs too

A tiny thing reoccuring
Til it became a fight
I'd make a face upon first taste
Then I would decry
"Don't overdo the root"
Time after time we'd recite our lines
Old wounds were opened fresh
Start as a joke, the flames we'd stoke
Til we're at each others necks
"Don't overdo the root"
Cause you know how much I love you
and I so appreciate your food
I'm not trying to be rude
but I got needs too

Now its been years and many tears
We finally parted ways
After futilely trying to change me
She dropped out of the race
There were many scenes where we disagreed
Still I contemplate
If the die was cast when first I asked her
To accommodate
