Patient Number Seven
by John Kloberdanz
performed by John Klober and the Dances

(They didn’t care)

I was just a number
I was sharing a private room
They told me to wait a minute
The doctor would be along soon

My stomach had been hurting
And I was feeling dizzy and weak
Everyone said I didn’t look well
And it was getting hard to speak

(They didn’t care)
I thought they’d care
I was breathing the same air
It was hard to just sit in a chair
I was trying to rest right over there

I didn’t have health insurance
So they told me to just lay down
The receptionist said I looked ok
The doctor would eventually come around

(Cacophony hospital sounds, sirens, etc.)

They called me patient number seven
It was just after eleven
But they never got around for me
They called me patient number seven
Now I’m way up here in heaven
Maybe I waited too patiently

(They didn’t care)
I thought they’d care
I was dying right over there
It doesn’t seem fair
Why didn’t they care
Why didn't they care

Did you put some weird effect on the backup vocals? Sounds like you recorded this through drain pipes. Very decent arrangement, though. The hospital sounds (which are far from a true cacophony, by the way, but at least they're sort of significant) don't sit well in the mix. Song is a bit drawn out. Huh, sudden ending. Good lead vocals, though you have a tendency to getting nasal especially on the lower notes. I can relate to the story (except for the dying part). The limiting factor here is definitely the mix, and of course points off for not-really-cacophonic.

Just wasn't all that catchy to me. Lyrics weren't bad...but going accapella can be tough to hold someone's attention.
