She gave us plenty of warning signs,
Yeah we had plenty of notice
But we refused to acknowledge it until she did exactly what she told us
Well every time I think about her, I get the urge to scream

We tried to make our points clearer
But there were ways we could have done it more efficiently than scrawling it on the mirror
Still I realize I didn't mean to be so mean

I know it's tempting to try to cut it short
But I feel like you were so much happier before you got so mad

The worst was when she gave up on us
The closet full of bare hangers
We heard the engine rev and then she drove away and it was just me and my anger
The only way I can cope is by pretending it's a dream
