No Memory
Mandibles- Shadow entry
First there was nothing,
then there was me
Blinking at the first glimpse of sun
The people surrounding,
speaking with glee
Of a war still yet to be won
They told me tales of
Monsters in the night
Of beams of scathing, burning light,
Of women fair and clever with the blade
Of the hope that morning brings
Of massive, scaley, flying things
And a music that would charm whenever played
In the midst of it all
A lone figure stood
Courageous, stalwart, and true
In a horrible brawl
He cut down what he could
“That figure,” they told me, “was you!”
They told me tales of
Monsters in the night
Of beams of scathing, burning light,
Of women fair and clever with the blade
Of the hope that morning brings
Of massive, scaley, flying things
And a music that would charm whenever played
Of the hero they asked
That he rise up once more
And finish it once and for all,
And I, still aghast,
Took hold of the sword
They insisted was mine before the fall
But I’ve got no memory of anything that happened to me
They told me tales of
Monsters in the night
Of beams of scathing, burning light,
Of women fair and clever with the blade
Of the hope that morning brings
Of massive, scaley, flying things
And a music that would charm whenever played
Take up the sword
Step into the night
Seek out evil
Fight the good fight
Metal through flesh
Cutting through bone
When the war is over
I’ll find my home
