Unnatural Disaster
by Ross Durand

A storm is comin’ - it’s comin’ for you
I think God got wind of the things you do
Some people say you’re born that way some say it’s your choice
And some think it ain’t natural for boys to be with boys

The wind is blowin’ - feel the waters rise
if you flaunt it in Jesus’ face don’t be surprised
And the laws of nature tell us how a storm can come to be
But I just think that God is pissed and Science don’t matter to me

And Grandpa always said that it just ain’t natural
And Billy Graham says that it just ain’t natural
And john Hagee* says it just ain’t natural too
You’ll get what’s comin’ to you

And they say, “Blessed are the poor
Blessed are the week
Blessed are the hungry
And Bless’d the meek.”
They say, “Blessed are the merciful
Blessed are the true.”
They say, “God loves everyone.”
He only wants to kill you

Now the storm is over - it’s rollin’ away
The poor are dyin’ - and the meek ones who stayed
Stranded are the weak ones
And desolate, the true
And these preachers want us all to think
God meant to do it to you

Grandpa always said that it just ain’t natural
And Billy Graham says that it just ain’t natural
And John Hagee says it just ain’t natural, too
You get what’s comin’ to you

*John Hagee is an American Pastor who believes God sent Hurricane Katrina to New Orleans because a major Gay Pride event was happening that week. Current Presidential candidate John McCain actively seeked and received Mr. Hagee's endorsement.

Those headphones were worth every penny: this mix wraps around my ears like warm caramel. Especially nice, after last week's mix. Love your voice in this song. I found these lyrics a little too unsubtle, however I suppose one needs to make the satire obvious with this kind of subject matter. The backwards solo is the best in the fight (a co-worker stopped me to ask if I was listening to Kenny Rogers' Just Dropped In), and that backwards storm-leaving sound works well with the lyrics. You drop some specific preacher names I'm not familiar with, but given recent-ish events in America I assume the storm in question was a literal one. Cool song, well thought-out, and a great use of the title.
