Blind Spot

Act One: Man's Perspective
I’ve driven around this block
More times than time forgot
Stoplight had to hold me there
Like I was really getting anywhere
Just saw the girl of my dreams
Licking on a mint chip ice cream
Didn’t know what to say say say
Thought I’d better be on my way

I Forgot
To check my blind spot
I wouldn’t play chicken
I wouldn’t try to cut you off
But you should never
No, not ever
Never ever
Pass on the right

Act Two : Woman's Perspective
It was a rookie mistake
I was on the make
But you ran off
A trail of exclamation points in your wake
But when you know you know
But no you had to go
The game was on
And you were off
But I knew the route to take

You forgot
To check your blind spot
It’s driving me crazy
How you could have just driven off
You’re so clever
Will you ever
Just endeavor
To meet me tonight

Act Three: Meet Cute
Cute meet meet cute like a cinema dream
It better not be a nightmare
are you a madman woman or a breath of fresh air
Hoped you were more Sally Albright
More so than Annie Hall
An origin story for the ages
If you rip out the rest of the pages

Epilog: It Didn't really work out (don't make life decisions based on movies)
We forgot
To check our blind spot
Like a dumb romantic comedy
Mistaking this for serendipity
We should not ever
(have) pulled the lever
But whatever
‘Twas love at first sight.

really like that opening riff, it crashes in with a good energy and some nice crunch. In general I really like this song musically, it's nicely varied with a good flow between the various sections, the percussion-heavy breakdown is a fun way to tackle the challenge and this is probably my favourite solo of the round (because I'm a sucker for guitarmonies). The lyrical idea is good fun but the vocals don't really work for me on this one, the melodies and rhythms of the words don't feel as well thought-out as the music and the echoes and layering (which is pretty sloppy in places) make things feel pretty muddy, especially for a song that is so story-based.

Octave guitars. I like the Muse-ish vox in the verse. Nice guitars/groove. Verses seem more rocking than the choruses, which is weird to me… feeling wise. Nice Brian May solo.
