He: It was vodka and a prescription
That took you from our home

Most nights I listened to you crying
Instead of getting restful sleep
An unholy alliance of pain and sadness
Washed down with a tall glass of grief

She: There’s no reason to blame yourself
There’s no reason for you to fear
Even though I left my body
My soul is resting near
We’re all living in this one world
But our bodies are ours to feel
I took the future into my own hands
And now I can start to heal

Both: You and I were together for so long
But we won’t be together in death
He: You left me too soon
She: No, it was time for my last breath

He: When did you lose your innocence
Why did you make this choice
Wasn't there some way you could reach out
I swear I listened for your voice
I would do anything to go back
And turn back the hands of time
I would love you more, I would love you true
I would love you so you would still be mine

She: You couldn’t change the moment
That the vodka and pills set me free
The high grass will wither like I had
Just like it reaches for thee
I want you to live on and embrace your life
And remember that I was too weak
The pain was too great for me to stay

In last moments she thought of old days

Of pain and sadness and grief
