June Moon by chewmeupspitmeout (shadow)
SpoilerI've been away/busy with work the last few weeks but it's calming down now, so I thought I'd actually do a shadow! I'll try to get some reviews out in the next few days for the weeks I've missed.

I think of that night sometimes when I'm lonely
On Jacksons field
As May turned into June
The moon in the sky made our skin look translucent
I touched the grass
To make sure it was real

We went back to your house to watch Donnie Darko
Your parents' clocks
Ticking out of sync
That sinking feeling we just couldn't run from
That this was all
There would ever be

We could've left that night and never looked back
Turned on our heels and escape this dead end town for good
But when I opened my eyes you'd already left
Whispered your name
Though you were gone

Run away
Don't look behind you, love
Or the world will clip your heels

(The moon in the sky made our skin look translucent
As May turned in...
Turned into June)

love the production, the synth bass sounds great and the glitchy interludes are really effective. Vocals sound good in the lower register but feel a bit overpowering when you go big and high, maybe they should come down a bit in the mix to compensate? Or it'd be cool if more distortion / glitch FX came in at that point to really embrace the chaos.

Super cool sound here, the synth bass is intriguing and your vocal over the sparse intro is haunting. The glitchy stuff works nicely with the Donnie Darko/"clocks ticking out of synth" stuff going on in the lyrics. I really like the passion in the vocal performance where you get a bit louder. There are some rough spots in it, like your voice feels a little out of control on "your house" and there are a few inconsistent moments as far as pitch and volume. The lyrics are great, full of eerie images and sadness. Love the sound of everything layered up in the outro, especially that detuned pad layer.

What the actual fk is this st!?! What year is it?? 1984 or sumfink!?! Why bother even doing a shadow if it's gonna sound like a motherfg piece of donkey wg full on sw tt pg all over the fg shop!?! Only joking. This is easily the best thing since Tchaikovsky.
