In with a shadow for this round! I used egg shaker, tambourine and wood block. The song is about the period in my early 20s where I was drinking far too much in a semi-successful attempt to combat social anxiety. Which is unfortunately harder to pull off in your 40s so maybe I should have found a more constructive approach, whoops.

I’d wake up every morning with my thoughts all in a tangle
from running home all tilted at a thirty degree angle
just dust in my pockets. only bruises on my skin
but I’d shake myself down and start over again

I would find myself stewing in mysterious regrets
it was a blind spot I can‘t remember… but one I can’t forget

I cannot explain it, I was like a homing pigeon
couldn’t put two words together yet I’d wake up on the kitchen floor
with no idea how I got there or what I had been doing
but a few hours of despair and then more trouble would be brewing

first song I've written since February I think? I quite like it. I've been playing a lot of nylon string guitar, and also have recently graduated to being good enough on drums that I don't need to do too much fixing or quantise stuff any more, so I'm pleased to get those elements into a new song rather than the covers I've mostly been working on recently. Some keyboard mistakes towards the end but I decided they kinda fit the vibe, having heard this at the end of the playlist each time... maybe I should have fixed it. Ah well.
