Stop (You're Killing Me)
by Merisan
Stepped off the curb to the pavement
felt the heat of the day through his soles
watched the cool air turn into waves
On the corner’s an old magazine rack
curled pages in dusty decline
as the smile of a soap opera star
flashed in his eye
And as the engine gets close
Oh the rush and the pulse
There was no hesitation
or turning back now
Woke up to the hum of the TV
to the clanging of bedpans and spoons
watched the IV drip to his veins
Gentle words, the sweet kiss of a lover
faintly drift through his obsessive haze
getting lost on the way
She said “Stop, can’t you see?”
and “Please, you’re killing me.”
Rising from his repose
headed back to the streets.
Back to the streets (repeat over outro, alternating between C minor and Eb major)
