Fun little goofy tale. It has deeper context that might give spoilers to a TV show/Movie. Leaving under a spoiler tag in case you want to guess on your own or you like to avoid spoilers.

Credit to my brother for giving me this idea.
What it's based on
It's someone who watched the Mandalorian season 1 on Disney+, but didn't really understand it, doesn't do a good job explaining it.

He thinks baby yoda is a chupacabra. I mean, he could be, right?
Individual references spoilers
Plays the Mandolin - Mandolin-ian? cause he plays the Mandolin I think, right?
fun fact: Originally the main character was a minstrel as I thought that a good way to describe someone who plays music and also goes on adventures e.g. the minstrels following brave sir robin in monty python and the holy grail. It was brought to my attention that 'minstrel' also carries heavy racist connotations (the minstrel show) with it so I wrote around that name. I liked it better than straight up saying mandolin, but y'know.

Tin man fights a horse - Mandalorian fights the Mudhorn

Powers from a universal source - Could it be the force? of course!

McGruff - Kuiil

breakin’ out of jail - prison ship episode

helping the country folk work out some issues with the neighbors - When he helps the villagers kill off the band of Klatoonian raiders

burning hot with gout - lava

decepticons - storm troopers

Tiny Timmy Tinkertoys - IG-11

omited from lyrics (other friends along the way):

Lady Lorian - Cara Dune (because the main character is Mando Lorian so this is Lady Lorian)

Billy Burr - Mayfeld

Verse 1
Deep in the burning desert there's a monster all men fear.
It steals their goats and wrecks their farms they wish it'd disappear.
A local group was griping about how things were so tough
The unanimous decision was that they had had enough
The farmers hired a scoundrel to go trap it at its den
He trekked across the desert while he played the mandolin
He fought his way into the cave where all the monsters hide
But you’ll never guess what happened when our hero went inside

He found a...

Chorus 1
Baby chupacabra he's as cute as he could be
he rides his little floating egg across the desert sea
He'll use his chupa magic when the tin man fights a horse
Maybe he's got powers from some universal source?

Verse 2
Our hero brought the baby back and traded it for loot
He wanted extra money to upgrade his shiny suit
But he couldn’t get that chupacabra’s eyes out of his mind
So he went back and he found the baby chupa in a bind
He ran in with this pistol but I think that they shot first
Then he grabbed the chupacabra and explored the universe
On a distant planet they ran into young crime dog McGruff
Who assured them when he spoke that what he said was quite enough

Chorus 2
Baby chupacabra you just can’t leave him behind
He might be filled with mischief, but his heart is just so kind
Some say someday he’ll eat you but I think that’s just absurd
Look in his eyes you'll be mesmerized without a single word

Verse 3
Well, our hero and the chupacabra had themselves quite a few little adventures
They even found a few friends along the way
You just didn’t know what they’d do next from breakin’ out of jail
To helping the country folk work out some issues with the neighbors
One thing’s for sure there was always just some kinda trouble...

They found themselves inside a cave with no way to get out
So they floated down a river that was burning hot with gout
But an ambush of decepticons
Was blocking their way out
Then tiny timmy tinkertoys
Blew up himself to save the boys

Chorus 3
Baby chupacabra he is simply just the best
He's lived a half a century but you would never guess
Wear him on your t-shirts and just love him through and through
He hasn't sucked a goat just yet but I bet he will in season 2

This is cute and charming and nicely performed, but I didn’t watch The Mandalorian, so I had some issues getting into what is essentially a filk song about a show I haven’t seen. There are a few too many inside jokes and references for it to really work as a story song for me without the outside context. It’s funny with your description of the concept for the song, and it’s enjoyable to listen to as a kind of novelty folk song, but I couldn’t quite get on board with it as much as some of the other judges did.
