Once More With Feeling
by Brown Word and the Big Whine
Spoiler
BWATBW has only had a guest 3x so it's a special occasion to feature Kweep in the call and response. This is a song about someone attempting to bust loose from ennui by leaving town and having no luck eliciting her non-commital associate to stop her. We can understand the defiant attitude, it's kind of a "her" problem, rather than an "everybody else" problem.
Halfway in between
Love and grief
Don't wanna leave like this
Creepin' out like a thief
This is an asshole town
That is everyone's an asshole
And the town leaves much
to be desired
I'm gonna be better now than I'd ever have been
Lemme come n see ya
Once more with feeling
Lemme come n see ya, see ya
"Maybe another time"
Lemme come n see ya
Once more with feeling ("feeling")
Lemme come n see ya, see ya
"Maybe another time"
One dilemma
That's surely left
Jump into the void
Or slow familiar death
In this asshole town
Think you can stop me?
Gimme one reason - "no reason"
Gimme an excuse - "no question"
Once more with feeling - "¡no mas!" *
I'm outta here man
and I ain't comin' back
Gimme one reason - "no reason"
Gimme an excuse - "no question"
Once more with feeling - "¡no mas!"
I'm outta here man
and I ain't comin' back
It's for the best
Everything in life has led to this
There comes a point of no return
Gimme one reason - "no reason"
Gimme an excuse - "no question"
Once more with feeling - "¡no mas!"
I'm outta here man
and I ain't comin' back
It's for the best
Everything in life has led to this
There comes a point of no return
- No mas = "no more",¡basta ya! is probably more correct in this context but no importa to our unreliable narrator
