Mousehole

Entry from Shock Value in Nur Ein XIV.

Make a song with quiet and loud parts -- like every Pixies song you love. This can mean crescendos or decrescendos, sudden loud noises, whatever, just make good use of dynamics.

we've had our problems
there's no denying that
but moving forward
we claim enlightenment
but some of the values seen in our Parliament are simply shocking

Fraser Anning
Pauline Hanson
words just fail me
how did these racist cunts come to represent me?

when did we become neo-nazis? How did that happen
when did we become neo-nazis? How did that happen
when did that happen?
I don't remember signing up for that

Pacific gulags
Peter Dutton
News fucking Limited
How did this happen?

when did we become neo-nazis? How did that happen
when did we become neo-nazis? How did that happen
when did that happen?
I don't remember signing up for that

The values you ignore are the values you accept

another total genre switch from the previous round! I guess this was mostly motivated by your holiday restrictions but musically this is really cool, especially the drum programming. Lyrics fall into the political trap of just feeling like a rant, it's a powerful message but very straightforward and specific. Some nice dynamic ebb and flow to the music but again it doesn't really feel like a stand-out feature of the song.

This sounds kind of like an extended intro, rather than an independent song. The strings sound good, as do the echoing vocals. I found it difficult to get into the rhythm, however.

this is a very confusing song to me. It has hiphop vamp sounds mixed with final fantasy midi video game sounds, and a siren sample that I haven’t been able to take seriously since the Trial by Fire challenge last year. I read your lyrics and looked forward to the song, but every time I went through the list, i didn’t notice it. Then I realized it was because every time it came on I didn’t hear any of the words because I was focusing on the strange amalgamation of pitches and beats. Normally I’m all for political songs, but this seems more angry than critical. A little more lyrical finesse would be good. All in all, pretty good for a hotel/traveling song, but not one I will come back to.

Slower paced songs don’t usually go over as well with me. I get bored easy, and this bored me. It doesn’t help that I don’t really follow your politics, but that’s not really the problem. I mean I get what your doing it’s just that I didn’t like that song. Wasn’t catchy, wasn’t fun to sing, and the music wasn’t memorable in any way to me. Sorry, this just missed the mark for me completely.

A cool mashup of vibes here, antifa-trap remixed orchestral background music. When indeed!

SONGS OF DUBIOUS BOMBASTICNESS

Vowel Sounds: A masters course on verb/delay. This is the most goergous song I've heard that contains the words "piss christ". Love that big ending.
