Nick Soma - Partly Fiction
Scribbled lines on paper
Perfumed letters, valentines
Some old drawing, brings up memories
Of a better time
Little note that says
No matter what we always will be friends
Beaded animals and stickers
Books and pens and odds and ends
I recall, but my conviction
Is not as strong as it once used to be
It's partly truth and partly fiction
A slowly fading memory
Only cans and bottles
Hinting at the presence of a ghost
Sunbleached poster, little teddy bear
The one you liked the most
School reports and trophies
Broken laptop, dusty shelf
And a postcard sent from Malta
Wish I was there myself
All these things, so ripe with meaning
I'd like to leave but I must stay
Was I there, or was I dreaming?
It's partly fiction anyway
Roman candles, aroma oil
Eyeliner, safety pin
Incense sticks and Darjeeling tea
I wish you'd let me in
And there's no use now in debating
What it is, I cannot say
Was I there, or am I hallucinating?
It's partly fiction anyway
Scribbled lines on paper
Some are yours and some are mine
Glowing stars high on the ceiling
I can't turn back the time
