Carte Blanche

Liner Notes
As soon as I saw the challenge I pretty much decided where I wanted to go with this. A synthwave bond theme, starring Keanu Reeves as James Bond (naturally). The lyrics come from me being uncultured and not knowing what Carte Blanche meant and finding the below in the dictionary:
"Unrestricted power to act at one's own discretion; unconditional authority"
I really liked the term "At One's Discretion" mainly because it sounded like a posh British thing to say. I also think my subconscious may have taken over and made it about my struggles with this competition. A couple of things I tried differently thanks to some great advice on the forums.
- I reposition my condenser mic, turns out I had it set up all wrong which wasn't doing me any favours.
- I read and re-read the brief and tried my hardest to make sure I met it (I feel like I dodged a bullet last week).
- I kept recording the vocals until I was happy with the delivery and didn't just settle.
Regardless of the outcome, I had loads fun with this one.
you're heading for your knees
and my heart is contradictory
but then I hold this key
and the suspense is killing me
at one's discretion
we choose to play this game
at one's discretion
we choose who will remain
at one's discretion
we choose to laugh or cry
at one's discretion
we choose to live or die
you're looking for reprieve
from a sentence draw in vein
but they hold to the key
that will decide your fate
at one's discretion
we choose to play this game
at one's discretion
we choose who will remain
at one's discretion
we choose to laugh or cry
at one's discretion
we choose to live or die
