Forum postCompelling story, very pretty music and vocals. I love the subtle instrumentation. Well rendered narrative of a murder, this hits the mark!
SpoilerThe "Flower Moon" is the name given to the full moon that occurs in May. Since this song had to be a, "narrative song about a murder" I googled serial killers in May and saw that many of them were born in late May. The song took those two ideas, that a serial killer would be murdering folks in May, and the idea that neighbors are always surprised to learn the people living nera them are serial killers. Something like that...
Capo 4th fret
G G/C G G/C D C G G/C (B B/E B B/E F# E B B/E)
There once was a Gemini
A kind and quiet guy
The neighbors barely noticed
When he would come and go
He would just walk right on by
Without even saying hi
At one in the afternoon
He sits in the same greasy spoon
Watching her waiting
Anticipating
Planning what next he would do
In the light of the flower moon
When he gets in a sour mood
He’d quietly put on his shoes
And go for a walk, down by the docks
And pick up a friend or two
In the light of the flower moon
By the light of the flower moon
While singing an ominous tune
He showed them his knives
Taking more lives
In the light of the flower moon
In the light of the flower moon
Bridge - Am Em Am D (C#m G#m C#m F#)
There once was a Gemini
But then so am I
In my daily paper
His latest capers
The loss of a another life
Someone daughter or somebody’s wife
There once was a Gemini
A quiet and nice enough guy
Under the pavement
Inside his basement
The bodies he’d carefully hide
It came as such a surprise
From a nice and quiet guy
