Double Chorus in 7/8

Chorus One
There’s a Crack in the Sidewalk
Busted from the root of a tree
Opportunity may knock
The roots of which may never break free

Verse One
If you find yourself at Blakes
Drinking some spirits, flirting with ghosts
You can fall asleep assured
They don’t want to hear it, the whispers you boast

Pre-Chorus One
You never left, you just hit the road
Don’t hold your breath, and softly explode

Chorus Two

Verse Two
She was blinded by your wit
Thinking you meant it, skirting the tropes
It became no more absurd
than meaningful thinking depending on hope

Pre-Chorus Two
She always knew, she just cracked your code
Time left a clue, the pavement took note

Chorus Three
There’s a Crack in the Sidewalk
Busted from the root of a tree
Opportunity may knock
The roots of which may never break free

Chorus Four
All this Bay/LA Bar talk
Replicating endlessly
All these cracks in the sidewalk
May trip me up eventually

5/8, 7/8, 4/4. nice opening, Gary Numan-ish. the chorus is very hooky but sounds almost obvious. but the chorus really serves up the verse well. the pedal bass sound under the verse is awesome, changes the pace. I hear Tormato Yes, or that late Tull album.
