Bring Your A Game

Pistols at Dawn by The Serviettes

This rudderless boat has finally hit land
Salt on our lips
The waves cascade upon the sand
The sun in the sky obscured by rain clouds up above
It's an omen
For our love

Now rations ran dry several weeks ago
Mutiny revealed itself simmering below
The facade of our normality
But now that's gone
The only way that this will end is
Pistols at dawn

No need to drop the anchor
We won't be coming back
As soon as we disembarked you viciously attacked
Your words felt like a rapier plunged into my breast
Choose your weapons well
For pistols at dawn
Pistols at dawn
Pistols at dawn
Pistols at dawn

Our cursed vessel has finally run aground
Recriminations and excuses abound
But in the end the rocks below the water did us in
I guess loving you
Was my cardinal sin

intriguing and strange rhythms on that first verse. Moody arrangement works well with your vocal, I like the sparse, shimmering percussion and the rich bass. I also like the sonic landscape explodes at the end of the chorus, although it feels like there's a clash in tuning between your voice and some of the instrumentation that comes in at that point first time around which is a shame at such a critical point of the song. Very end is also a bit sudden, give me more of a fade!
