Byron Bay
*By the Cavedwellers
Guest player: Erin Debakcsy- Violins*
Foul-Weather Jack he sailed the seas
Through storm and strife he came
To Louisburg to raze the fort
And render the French lane
When colonists rebelled as one
West Indies were his stage
Then governor of Newfoundland
And Labrador was made
For all the daring deeds you do
Byron Bay was named for you
Mad Jack the name of his first-born
An army captain he
And madness was his stock in trade
And his true infamy
His bride gave him a child
And gave her life up far too fast
He married Mrs. Gordon
Then took his own life at last
For all the tragedy gone through
Byron Bay was named for you
You had no fear
You’d never thought to bring it here
George Gordon next to wear the name
Distinguished twice before
Took up the pen and not the sword
He not a Byron born
His language was elixir to
The hearts that he possessed
An idol among poets,
Keats and Shelly were his friends
For all the love and fame you knew
Byron Bay was named for you
Fabulous. I love a historical ballard
The music provides an evocative epic sound for the educational backdrop. I like the focus on the different family members who've held the Byron title. My personal bias makes me a bit disappointed that there's not more of a focus on George ("The" Lord Byron). The violin works really well under the vocals, then shines when it's time for the solo. Beautiful. The tambourine doesn't strike me as fake this week! 😛 Excellent work.
