Colourblind
by Merisan
I can’t remember
what it was like to be a child
asleep and safe from harm
Why do our memories blur
from technicolor prisms
to washed out grey?
You’re like a picture
from a dream that I hold dear
I want to wake up next to you.
In the morning shadows
your silhouette is perfect
and I’m in love.
So draw the curtains tight
I don’t want to see the world outside
We’ll let the day roll by
And watch the evening rise
Can’t take the stars from my eyes
And there’s no place for my heart to hide
Though the years pass away
And all our colours start to fade
You’re still mine
Red leaves of Autumn
rustle and whisper in my ear
Like a lover leaving town
I hate to see you go
Lost in Winter’s cover
I dont want the cold
My love is changing
but I can see you as you are
your vivid, painted heart
If I was colourblind
and robbed of all your shades
I could still feel your smile.
