Use of Line Cliche

LyricsShow lyrics

"Crush Season"
By Moss Palace

Our line cliché is an E minor code with a bass line that descends chromatically from E to B, and it happens in the intro and in the verse. The bridge is also a callback to that part. It's not a line cliché because the chords actually change, but they change in a way that supports a chromatic walk down from E to B similar to the line cliché.

The rain is moving in
I don’t mind getting caught
It’s the season of l’amour
But love isn’t what I’ve got
Never the type to wear a ring
I don’t think that it works out
I wasn’t looking for a fling
But now I’m full of doubt

I feel the crush of your stare
Catch me before I fall
Your eyes, full of desire
Trace an x on my heart

It really isn’t fair
The things that you make me say
If you want to show me that you care
Then please let me break away
You’re the one who calls the shots
I’m the one who’s left to deal
Heaven help me if you leave
Two empty arms and a heart of steel

I feel the crush of your stare
Catch me before I fall
Your eyes, full of desire
Trace an x on my heart

ooh love that pinky synth bit that comes in the intro. Love the sultry vocals and music combo of this. This has the sound of a james bond theme and that is cool. Love it. That waily synth is also super cool.
