Forum postthis is an interesting song and a fun take on the challenge, but the effect on the vocals doesn't work for me at all, so I have to put that out of my mind to enjoy the rest.
The Handbook - Brown Word and the Big Whine (shadow entry)
I wasn't always a monster you see
I used to be several people who breathed
But if you ever want to make a monster like me
I have the handbook, the handbook, the handbook right here
First you must have a wicked desire
A taste for the necromantic hard-wired
Second the stomach to sift through remains
Of beggars and thieves, the departed insane
The handbook, the handbook, the handbook you see
If you ever want to make a monster like me
Third, hone the edge of scientific technique
For the customized lab you'll develop for me
Fourth, have no fear to meddle with fate
And call forth a brand new being incarnate
The handbook, the handbook, the handbook you see
If you ever want to make a monster like me
Finally, stand by this creature you've wrought
To fill it with all of the virtues of thought
Do not abandon this child you've brought
Through the dastardly deed of the playing of God
For I wasn't always a monster you see
I was raised by the real monster innocently
But if you ever want to make a monster like me
I have the handbook, the handbook, the handbook right here

reminds deirds of devo's cover of satisfaction
I like the lyrical concept. Parents, amirite? I didn’t find this very enjoyable to listen to, though--felt kind of droning; I think for this kind of bluesy vocal delivery I would have liked more of a sexy swing and swagger to the music, and probably would have liked the lyrics to be cut down a lot; it’s really wordy for the style--not necessarily overall length, but phrasing within each line.
This is a fun little funk jam. It feels very muted, and I kinda want that bass guitar to blow my ears out, but that might just be me being dumb. The vocal line is a little nasaly, but I think it's the stylistic choice for this genre, so it's good. More, please!
cool idea! The swell of sounds In the bridge is my favorite part. I find the hook of “the handbook” very tiring after awhile, especially cause it’s under everything. Lyrics are a bit wordy, but you fit them in well enough. I could hear this on a late 80 teen monster movie soundtrack.
