Must include a classical music sample

Intro/verse has a modified sample of the opening few measures of "Clare de Lune"

I know there’s nothing behind
your darkened windows
but there was a life
open every night

I would spend hours with you
just wandering through
now there’s dusty shelves
and empty carousels

Oh my heart breaks every time I pass by
the old ways and our good times have died

No more Saturday nights down at Videoland
We all stay at home now watching on demand
Our laptop tells us what we want and we all buy the brand
It happened all too fast for me and I miss you

You were my favorite escape
for so many years
walls of story lines
read like valentines

the thrill I felt in your aisles
as I would dream
exploring outer-space
solving every case

Oh my heart breaks every time I pass by
the old ways and our good times have died

No more Saturday nights down at Videoland
We all stay at home now watching on demand
Our laptop tells us what we want and we all buy the brand
It happened all too fast for me and I miss you

Solo

It was so sweet what we had
I’ll never forget
you were so good to me
erasing my late fees

No more Saturday nights down at Videoland
We all stay at home now watching on demand
Our laptop tells us what we want and we all buy the brand
It happened all too fast for me and I miss you
And I miss you
yeah I miss you
Oh I miss you

Your implementation of the challenges is a bit boring sometimes; not this time, though. In fact, challenge wise this is the best entry, to me, at least. I like your chord progression and, of course, Erin's wonderful voice. Very slick production, maybe a bit too slick for my taste. The one thing I don't like here is the synth, which I think does not fit the mood of this song. All in all, good song and my second favorite.

I'm a sucker for a good synth line and this is the best song this round. Good lyrics. The vocals are always top notch. The electric guitar and the vocals together don't gel me...the vocals don't seem to be pushing as much air as the guitar, if that makes any sense.

"Claire de Lune," right off the bat. I would have pegged you guys for a Chopin sample. Anyway, thank you for opening on the sample, because I would not have recognized it if you'd just left it in the background during the verses. I like when the synth reprises that same line in the second verse samples. If I have any problem with this, it's that Erin's voice doesn't have a whole lot of oomph behind it. The melody and her voice are lovely, but to my ears the performance sounds a bit dispassionate. Maybe it was like the zillionth take and you were tired or something? This wouldn't have made much difference to me if the competition hadn't been so fierce, but with four other great songs in the round, that turned out to be a make-or-break aspect of this song.

The most adorable song for me out of all your entries. All I can find in the verse is beauty. What saddens me a bit is that both the harmony and the vocal line are too indebted to the chosen sample, which is a breathtakingly beautiful passage (well, I'm also a fan of Debussy. If I had competed, Debussy also have been one of my options. Now I think of "Arabesque No. 1"). Hooray for the beauty anyway. The bridge to the chorus is brilliant. But the first part of the chorus has seemed a little looser than the places they came from. It would have been nice to embed some of that dark suggesting feel from delicate harmony of verse. The drumwork is fabulous. Lots of respect to his creator. I really like that never falls in excess and also saw the song perfectly. Actually this is a constant in your entries. I do not care if drums are programmed or human played. What I am especially appreciating is the nature of the arrangements. 10 out of 10 in this section. Finally, what this song has achieved is to prove to me that in Merisanland there is a place (out of his confort zone) where exists the soil and seed to grow gigantic and majestic pop songs, as sequoias are. I speak from what I know of you, just from your entries in the past and in this Nur Ein. I feel that there is a potential to create monuments to pop as those achieved by ABBA, e.g.. I see it, I swear. I would love to be right.
