Elizabeth the Great
By Ross Durand
with additional vocals by Sierra Elizabeth Durand
(yes that really is her middle name)
Narrator:
Lizzy heads outside for the day
Never knows what she'll find
Overgrown backyard could be a whole world
You kn ow it's all in her state of mind
Like what's that - over there? Stomping through the brush
A dragon killing everything around
She prepares for a battle royale
When her momma calls here in and brings the whole thing down
Lizzy:
I have to eat my vegetables
And clean my plate
But inside I'll always be
Elizabeth the great.
Narrator:
And she's headed back out - laser gun in tow
For her moonscape escapades
Tentacles on aliens, holding her down
Then she's rescued by the very same space dog she saved
When the evil spacecat from planet nine
Comes bounding through the woods
So she takes out her bow made of rubber bands and straws
But momma wags her finger as she draws back to shoot
And this morning momma told her that she probably won't see daddy very much anymore
Maybe on weekends and on holidays, but She'll see him that's for sure
Lizzy:
I can take on dragons and invaders from space
No challenge too big for Elizabeth the great!
Narrator:
So the sun is going down on another day of play
And the world has slowly turned back to yard
And the house her family lived in is right over there
And though she saunters back slowly it isn't very far
Lizzy:
I had to come inside whenthe lights went on
After playing all day all alone
And I'm sad cause our table only has two plates
But inside I'll always be Elizabeth the great
