Flowers bloom ‘neath the flower moon
Life springs forth from nature’s womb

Life comes now and death comes soon

In a warren in the woods
Four babies bald and blind
Await the precious drops of milk
That keep them all alive
A mother feeds her children and watches as they grow
A mother loves her children so

Nestled in a treetop nest
Four babies hoot and cry
Waiting for the scraps of flesh
That keep them all alive
A mother feeds her children and watches as they grow

In the moonlight long ears twitch
And catch the sound of wings
Legs start pumping, talons flex
A scream of terror rings
There are four full-bellied babies and four left all alone
