That vocal is all over the place, tonally; but I like the tune; but that vocal is all over the place. The lyric is nice. But Ooow! That vocal! It's almost perfect but then it isn't. Also complete failure on the challenge, as I hear it (or don't)...
Semiprecious by The Serviettes
Tried to talk to you last night
Do this properly, do this right
But I'm a coward, so I wrote you this letter
To explain why I believe that I can do better
Wait
That's too harsh
I'll tear up what I've got and go back to the start
I don't want to hurt you
And I don't want you to hurt me physically
But you will always be precious to me
You need to find someone who makes you feel
Like Bowie's backing vocals on Satellite of Love
He and Mick Robson sound just like
A couple of angels sent from heaven above
But you won't get that reference even though
I've told you so many times you need
To listen to Transformer by Lou Reed
But you never did I guess its symptomatic
Of why our relationship has always been static
Stop, start again
Wouldn't we be better off if we were just friends?
Its not you
Its me
But that's too clichéd, obviously
And you will always be precious to me
Always be precious to me
Always be precious
Well maybe not precious
But definitely semiprecious to me

Your voice can't seem to find the melody. I'm not crazy about these lyrics and the "meta" aspect of walking up to a cliche and then cheekily acknowledging it as a cliche. Not much else to say on this one, sorry.
I really like your take on the title, the lyrics are (bitter)sweet and feel personal and unique. The arrangement puts a lot of focus on your vocals and they're a little shaky in places, I really love the way the chorus resolves back into those soft piano chords after the broken-up prechorus though. I think this is a song with a lot of potential and I'm not sure why the judges were so down on it.
